WILLEMSTAD - The Disaster Response Organization (RBO) organized a training for the hurricane season on Saturday. The season starts today. Various involved organizations came together for the training.
The RBO is the organization in Curaçao that is set up to combat the consequences of a crisis or disaster in a coordinated manner. The RBO consists of 9 Emergency Support Functions (ESF) composed of various organizations that work together to combat the consequences of a crisis or disaster.
According to meteorologists, the Caribbean faces a severe hurricane season which lasts until November 30th. In general, the Windward Islands have to deal with hurricanes, but Curaçao must remain watchful.
The RBO consists of various Emergency Support Functions, namely police, fire brigade, ambulance, Flow, Telecommunication & Post Office, WJZ, Aqualectra, Public Works, Communication Department, the Ministries of Justice, Economic Development and Health, the Coast Guard, the Meteorological Service, the Red Cross, Citro and the 'Volunteer Crisis Center Assistants'.
