"Distribution of emergency support the Netherlands is a shame"

Local | By Correspondent April 22, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Lawyer Achim Henriquez speaks shame of how the government of Curaçao handles emergency financial support from the Netherlands. That is what he said this morning during a radio interview on ParadiseFM.

According to Henriquez, it is remarkable that only 42 million guilders, of the total 177 million, goes to the Curaçao business community. The rest would be spent on government. He also says that it is impossible to explain that companies that are eligible for wage subsidies will no longer be deferred to pay the taxes.

Henriquez thinks it is not advisable to file a lawsuit against the government, as a group of business owners wants to do. A process costs a lot of money, which can now be used better according to Henriquez.
