WILLEMSTAD - Domestic violence is number one every week when it comes to the number of high-impact crime. This is again apparent this week when the figures from the police were presented.
There is a new case almost every day. Last month 25 cases, the month before in June even 40 cases where it comes to marital quarrels, where violence is used and the police have to intervene.
The other high-impact crime in Curaçao has also shown a more or less the same picture in terms of numbers in recent months from April. Every month there are about 110 crimes that the police register under that heading.
Then it concerns atrakos (assaults), about ten per month. Burglaries in cars, homes and businesses, about sixty a month and car thefts, about eight a month.
Atrakos mainly take place at night. Just like business break-ins and car break-ins. Homes are mainly broken into during the day.
