WILLEMSTAD - Contrary to statements made yesterday during the press conference, the mandatory use of facemask still applies. Epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth confirmed this earlier today. The emergency law still applies, and that includes the obligation for facemasks in public indoor areas.
Yesterday during the press conference, Gerstenbluth said that every location, such as supermarkets, can determine that for itself, which implied that the mandatory use of facemask has been lifted, but that was not correct. There is talk of abolition, but that is not yet on the agenda. The difference with indoor parties where people can enter without a mask is that they can only be visited with the Curaçao health app, while supermarkets, for example, must remain accessible to everyone.
