Dr. Gerstenbluth: “Still enough space and equipment in hospital for the time being”

Local | By Correspondent March 26, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Today the epidemiology department announced that there were 56 Covid patients in the Curaçao Medical center (CMC), 15 of whom were in the intensive care unit. Fourteen patients were admitted on Friday. Two of them went straight to intensive care.

The situation is worrisome, but the hospital had foreseen an increase in the number of corona patients. Epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth said yesterday that there is still enough space and equipment for the time being. According to the doctor, the hospital is preparing for an increase in the number of Covid patients in the coming weeks.

Planned operations are being postponed for the time being. Furthermore, efforts are made to keep as much space and staff as possible free for acute care, both Covid and non-Covid related.
