Duck Donuts opens first store in Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent October 18, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Duck Donuts is not yet a well-known name in Curaçao. However, if it's up to William Paardekooper, the American franchise will soon conquer the local market. In December, the first branch will open at the airport, and there are already plans for a second location in the city center. Paardekooper discovered the donut shop during a business trip to the US and became fascinated by the sweet treat. The customized donuts are baked in front of the customer, which especially delights children. Paardekooper also intends to introduce the brand to Aruba, Bonaire, and Sint Maarten. He already holds the license for that.

Paardekooper expects the donuts to sell like hotcakes. Between 2006 and 2010, he imported a thousand donuts daily from Dunkin' Donuts in Aruba. He did this on order. Due to the fact that the owners of Baskin Robbins have the Dunkin' franchise, he amicably stopped this side business. Now, a new concept is taking its place. Duck Donuts currently has 130 branches worldwide.
