THE HAGUE - It is a fact now: the Dutch cabinet is calling on everyone not to travel abroad in the coming months - not at all during the Christmas holidays and the first half of January. This travel advice also applies to areas where code yellow applies, such as Curaçao. The Dutch government has not yet taken a decision on possible compensation for the travel industry.
This week, the Curacao hotel association CHATA already said that the consequences of such a negative travel advice would be dramatic for our island. Many hotels are in financial trouble and had pinned their hopes on around Christmas and New Year's Eve. At 2 pm our time, Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge will give a press conference on these and other measures.
