Local | By Correspondent November 20, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The Zr. MS. Holland has intercepted 535 kilos of drugs in the Caribbean. The catch was at the end of last month but is only now being announced by the Ministry of Defense.

According to Defense, two interceptions have been made. During the first one, smugglers managed to throw the drugs overboard. Part of this had to be fished out of the water. The rest was lost in the sea. Three suspects have been arrested, a Venezuelan and two Dominicans. Together with the drugs, they were transferred to an American coastguard vessel.

The second interception was a day later. Here the team of the US Coast Guard and the Marine Corps found nine packages of cocaine, together good for 270 kilos of drugs. These suspects have also been transferred to the United States and are being prosecuted there.
