Education Council for Fundamental Education in Curaçao is a fact

WILLEMSTAD - In accordance with the “country regulation of the 14th November 2008 concerning the regulation regarding fundamental education” article 7, there is an education council for fundamental education (after nearly 11 years) that advises the Minister on proposed changes to this national ordinance and on giving application to:

- proof of the ability to provide education (must have been obtained at the level of bachelor at a training institute designated as such by the Minister and issued in accordance with a diploma model approved by the Minister. The Minister may, in addition to the proof mentioned, in the first sentence, to identify evidence obtained at another training institution);

- the educational areas:

a. language, literacy and communication relating to English, Dutch, Papiamentu and Spanish;

b. arithmetic and mathematics;

c. people and society;

d. people, nature and technology;

e. cultural and artistic education;

f. healthy lifestyle and physical education;

g. socio-emotional education, and

h. general human education.

- the school guide, which contains information for parents and students about the working method of the school. (at least information about the goals of the education and the results achieved with the educational learning process);

- further regulations regarding the layout, the method of election of the members and the authority of the parent committee;

- the types of costs to which the reimbursement relates (such as Personnel reimbursement; maintenance, security, insurance and replacement of inventory; maintenance, security and insurance of buildings and grounds; energy; administration, management and administration; cleaning; charges; renting of buildings and lands; investments in buildings and lands; initial design; in-service training, pupil care, teaching materials.

The Education Council FO is represented:

- representatives of the seven competent authorities / school boards that maintain one or more schools;

- two members of the staff union

- two representatives of the parents of children attending fundamental education (or the umbrella organization that provides for the representation of the parents).

Education minister Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé, among others, thanked everyone for their efforts.
