WILLEMSTAD - The Education Inspectorate has officially presented the State of Secondary Vocational Education and Training 2025 to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Mr. Sithree van Heydoorn. The report provides an independent and comprehensive overview of the quality, performance, and development of secondary vocational education (SBO) and the broader education sector in Curaçao.

According to the Inspectorate, the SBO sector is evolving, with institutions making progress in professionalization and quality assurance. However, the report stresses the need for updated legislation, stronger alignment between education and the labor market, and structural investment in teachers, internal quality systems, and study financing.

During the handover, the Inspector-General emphasized the essential role of vocational education in Curaçao’s social and economic development. “Strong and future-proof vocational education is crucial for a resilient labor market,” she said. “This report shows where progress has been made and where continued joint effort is required.”

The report provides the minister with concrete policy recommendations aimed at modernizing the system, strengthening governance, and improving opportunities for students. The Education Inspectorate will continue monitoring developments in the coming years as part of its statutory oversight mandate.
