WILLEMSTAD - The announced price increase for eggs has not yet been implemented. Legislation & Legal Affairs (WJZ) must first provide advice on the law.
The price of eggs was expected to increase by 35 percent this week. The Minister of Economic Development Ruisandro Cijntje made a proposal for this, which the Council of Ministers has approved. Chicken farmers indicated last month that they were in trouble because they could no longer afford the chicken feed and transport costs.
Cijntje now says that he will continue to urge WJZ to consider the proposal. As soon as the advice is received, the decision can be signed by the governor and the price increase is introduced.
