WILLEMSTAD - After persistent inquiries from the Venezuelan community in Curaçao regarding the status of the Venezuelan Electoral Register, this register was finally opened yesterday. This happened after the deadline had already passed, as the process was supposed to start on March 18 and end on April 16 according to the Electoral Council's calendar.
The opening of the register, located at Scharlooweg number 9, follows complaints about delays caused by the Venezuelan Consulate in Curaçao. The local Venezuelan community criticized the consulate, accusing it of unilaterally delaying the process.
The registration period runs until April 16, with opening hours from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. All eligible Venezuelan voters residing in Curaçao are urged to register or change their polling center.
Requirements for this include a valid Venezuelan identity card or passport, a Curaçao identity card, and a residence permit valid for more than one year.
