Electricity supply at part of the Curaçao Medical Center briefly interrupted this morning

Local | By Correspondent November 19, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The electricity supply in a section of the Curaçao Medical Center was briefly interrupted this morning. This has caused smoke smell in some of the operating rooms.

Initial investigation has established that one of the many electrical cabinets in one of the technical rooms on the roof had an elevated temperature that caused smoke. Ballast Nedam is currently working on the necessary repairs and expects the problem to be resolved this afternoon. The electrical cabinet will be replaced.

The patients are not at risk and there is no reason to panic. The CMC conducts its own investigation with a special team.

For the sake of completeness, it is pointed out that the CMC is a major project and that "small issues" can occur in particular in the initial phase. Patient safety is always paramount for the CMC.
