Elhage was sworn in today

Local | By Correspondent August 12, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - It finally happened! Shaheen Elhage was sworn in today at 11 am by Her Excellency Governor Lucille George-Wout. On Tuesday afternoon, just after four o'clock, during a meeting of parliament, Elhage's credentials were finally approved. This seems to end a "soap opera" that started on June 20 after the death of the former President of Parliament and PAR MP William Millerson.

Due to opposition factions, five scheduled parliamentary meetings were needed to actually get Elhage sworn in.

The PAR politician said yesterday that he is happy that he can be sworn in. The government has now the needed majority in parliament to continue working.
