WILLEMSTAD - Elsa Rozendal has left the MAN party. Party chairman Yves Schoop confirmed this to the media this afternoon. Rozendal had come to Schoop's doctor's office to hand him her letter of resignation. Schoop is also the next name on the party's list to take Rozendal's place in parliament. Rozendal indicated that she will not take the parliamentary seat. This means that the coalition will retain its majority in parliament.
Rozendal would resign according to unconfirmed reports because she does not agree with the recently passed Emergency Act. There are also rumors that she would like to join the Democratic Party. Rozendal was previously a member of the PAIS party.
