Emmilou Capriles calls the situation "unacceptable"

Local | By Correspondent February 17, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Emmilou Capriles, the intended new parliamentarian for the coalition party PAR, cannot accept that she will be denied accession to parliament.

She says it is unacceptable that the opposition refuses to form a quorum, so that her credentials cannot be reviewed impeding her from being sworn in. Carpiles wants to await the next public meeting of parliament and then consider possible next steps.

Capriles has been nominated to take the seat that became vacant after Jeser El Ayoubi returned it to the party. Currently, the coalition parties have ten seats in parliament, the same number as the opposition parties. The opposition has recently boycotted public meetings several times.
