WILLEMSTAD - A third employee of the Curacao Medical Center (CMC) has tested positive for COVID-19. This employee works in an administration department and has no link with the two previous cases. This person had the day off when he/she started feeling the symptoms. Colleagues have therefore not run any risk of contamination at the workplace. The relevant staff member is currently in isolation at home.
CMC is a microcosm of our community; As such - as long as the infections on our island increase - it is not surprising that positive cases are also registered between our employees. The Board of Directors of the CMC continues to work with the ARBO, the Prevention of Infection department, the Outbreak Management Team and GGD to take the necessary steps to protect our hospital.
CMC continues to emphasize the importance of maintaining the COVID-19 protocol within the hospital and urges everyone to adhere to the rules of social distance and hygiene outside the hospital in daily life. In the event of an increase in the number of positive cases among employees, the CMC will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff. If multiple employees are tested positive for COVID-19 in the future and this will affect our service, CMC will take appropriate steps and communicate this immediately to staff and the community.
As is known, the CMC currently has a patient in isolation in the unit designated for COVID19.
The entire CMC family wishes their colleagues and all those affected by COVID-19 a speedy recovery. At the same time, CMC reminds all patients to wear a mouth mask when visiting the hospital.
