Entertainment sector disappointed after government meeting

Local | By Correspondent September 28, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The government met on Monday with various stakeholders from the entertainment sector. The entertainment world reacts disappointed to the outcome of the meeting.

Prime Minister Gilmar 'Pik' Pisas was supposed to be present at the meeting but shone in the absence. He was represented by Lesley Fer from the disaster relief organization, Ronny Cornelis from the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) and legal officials from the government.

Feco Gomes, chairman of Asosiashon Di Musiko Di Korsou (AMAK), regrets the situation. “This meeting would have been an opportunity to get out of the crisis.” AMAK has again sent a letter to the government with several considerations and proposals. The sector wants to talk to the Prime Minister as soon as possible.

Fer understands the disappointment of the sector representatives. “We have convened a meeting with the sector to listen to them and to inform them and explain why the measures cannot be relaxed yet,” Fer indicated. “There is currently no other option. We can only relax if the infections go down and the pressure on healthcare decreases."
