WILLEMSTAD - A 74-year-old former employee of the Antillean Airline ALM, which has long since ceased to exist, has been sentenced to a year of suspended prison terms. He must also pay the injured party 50,000 guilders.
The man embezzled 327,000 guilders from the ALM pension fund, where he worked for 33 years and was on the board of the pension fund. In total, a million guilders has disappeared.
The former employee confessed to embezzling the money. He said he was sorry and would refund the money. He needed the money because of his alcohol addiction.
According to his lawyer, he is now undergoing treatment for his addiction at the Fundashon Maneho di Adikshon, FMA.
In addition to the compensation and the suspended prison sentence, he must be subject to mandatory probation supervision, whereby the FMA treatment is also mandatory.
