WILLEMSTAD - From 1 August the Turnover tax will be replaced by ABB, general spending tax. This is evident from the Draft for the National Ordinance on Tax Measures.
The current rates of 6, 7 and 9 percent remain. Only if the goods arrive in Curacao is there an ABB rate of 9 percent instead of 6.
The concept also states that duty on beer is doubled per 100 liters: from 120 to 240 guilders. For alcohol, this goes from 1150 to 2000 guilders per 100 liters and the excise duty increases by 7.30 guilders per 100 cigarettes.
All measures should eventually bring an additional 64 million euros into the treasury every year.
