Exhibition Symbiosis at Landhuis Bloemhof

Local | By Correspondent March 8, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Landhuis Bloemhof will soon open the new exhibition 'Symbiosis'. The exhibition will be on view from Saturday. Symbiosis was created in collaboration with sculptors Brigitte Wawoe and Angel Luis de la Rosa González.

The exhibition consists of stone sculptures and drawings inspired by the Japanese 'one brush stroke' technique. Wawoe and de la Rosa González have both been working with stone and wood for years. The artists have been working together for three years and are now joining forces in the exhibition.

“Symbiosis according to the dictionary means: the coexistence of two dissimilar organisms on or in each other, leading to mutual benefit. For Brigitte and Angel, their symbiosis stands for growth, identification and connection,” says Landhuis Bloemhof.

It was special for both artists to discover how art can connect each other. According to Landhuis Bloemhof, Wawoe and de la Rosa González discovered that differences such as the way of working, age, culture and gender don't really matter because of art.

Wawoe also has its own studio on Curaçao located near Nieuwpoort. She lives in the Netherlands, but regularly returns to Curaçao and her studio. De la Rosa Gonzalez has already had three solo exhibitions on the island and has participated in the art project AMAZONIA.

The exhibition is on display until April 16. Landhuis Bloemhof is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
