WILLEMSTAD, BOGOTA - The woman who was seriously injured in an explosion at her home at Kaya Piano on November 2, died in Colombia on Monday. The victim’s name was Sahaida Shally Barnier, she was born on August 23, 1969 in Curaçao. The police announced this in a press release.
On November 2, there was an explosion in the house at the Kaya Piano. That happened after the woman lit incense. It is suspected that gas was leaking from the stove at that time.
The explosion seriously injured the woman, she had third-degree burns. At first she was taken to the CMC hospital, but it soon became apparent that she had to go to Colombia for further treatment. She eventually passed away there.
Update: Police have arrested two persons suspected of involvement in the case. They are suspected of knowingly causing the explosion.
Barnier is said to have checked the house at the time of the explosion. She did so after the tenants had left the house shortly before. Everything seems to indicate that the stove's gas burner was open when she lit incense. That resulted in the explosion.
