Extensive search for missing Dutch tourist

Local | By Correspondent July 29, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - An extensive search is underway for the missing Dutch tourist on Curaçao. Major of the Dutch Navy Steven Baan reports this on the Dutch radio Dolfijn FM. The man did not return after a walk on Tuesday.

The man is on vacation with his family and so far every morning went for a walk in the area with one of his children. On Tuesday, the man went out alone. When he did not return from his walk, the police were alerted.

The search is supported by Defense and rangers from the Christoffel Park. The Coast Guard helicopter has been deployed and drones with Carmabi thermal imagers are being used. Police are concerned about the tourist's condition, because he only had a liter of water with him.

According to Baan, the chance that he has lost his way is small, since the man has walked the route with his family a number of times before. The major is happy that many people want to help search for the man, but asks everyone to stay away from the area. This is because it makes it more difficult to search for the man.

Anyone with relevant information about the missing person is requested to report this to the police via 911.
