WILLEMSTAD - The nurses who will support the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) with the care of COVID-19 patients will leave the Netherlands on Sunday.

Secretary-General Sharlon Melfor of the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature indicated during the latest press conference that additional healthcare personnel can be on the island within three days after the budget has been made available.

On Thursday, Minister of Finance Javier Silvania ordered almost two million guilders to be paid to the hospital. According to Silvania, the CMC has reduced the budget from 2.9 million guilders to almost 2 million guilders.

The extra healthcare staff will work in the ICU of the hospital and provide support where necessary. It is not known exactly how many nurses will come to the island.
