WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten will receive a few dozen additional military personnel. This was announced by commander Hans Leijtens. The extra military police (Marechaussees) are deployed at the request of the islands for the fight against cross-border crime.
According to the commander, Curaçao lies at the crossroads between South America for criminal organizations. The support of military police in guarding against criminal activities at the border has also been discussed in recent negotiations with the Netherlands.
