WILLEMSTAD - Anthony Godett, former leader of the political party FOL and former Member of Parliament, is afraid that people will be laid off from the Autobusbedrijf Curaçao (ABC Bus Company).
According to Godett, the government has budgeted almost two million guilders less on subsidies for 2021. According to the former politician, people will lose their jobs, buses will be less well maintained, and routes will be scrapped.
Godett does not agree with this cut and has raised the alarm.
Godett explains that he believes bus drivers will be fired and then forced to apply through employment agencies. To return cheaper through this construction. Earlier, chairman Wendell Meulen of the UGTK / CADMU union asked for attention to the cutbacks. According to Meulen, the government is not adhering to previously made agreements with the bus company.
