WILLEMSTAD — The official pre-opening of LXRY Mall took place on Friday afternoon, December 27, in Brakkeput, drawing significant public interest and marking an important milestone in the development of Curaçao’s newest shopping destination.
During the ceremony, developers Patrick Heintjes, Arjen Wijma, and Paul ten Haaf jointly cut the ribbon, officially inaugurating the mall’s first phase. The moment was followed by a festive gathering for invited guests to celebrate the occasion.

The pre-opening signals the beginning of a new phase for the shopping center. Several stores have already opened their doors, including HealthMe Curaçao, Jamin, Top1Toys, and DA. Most of the remaining retailers are expected to begin fitting out their premises in January 2026, with a steady rollout of new and diverse stores planned in the months that follow.
In his address, developer Patrick Heintjes reflected on the journey leading up to the opening, noting that LXRY Mall began as a vision. “That this dream has now become a reality makes us incredibly proud,” he said. He also shared a personal message aimed at young people, encouraging them to pursue their ambitions. “If you have a dream, just go for it,” Heintjes told the audience.
The grand opening of LXRY Mall is scheduled for April 2026, when the center is expected to be fully operational and showcase its full potential. Plans include the establishment of a large supermarket, which is anticipated to help improve traffic flow and ease congestion along the often-busy Caracasbaaiweg.
Strategically located in Brakkeput, just before the entrance to Jan Sofat, the development of LXRY Mall adds a modern, vibrant, and forward-looking retail area to Curaçao. The new complex is designed as a place where shopping, social interaction, and experiences come together, strengthening the island’s evolving commercial landscape.
