WILLEMSTAD - The number of students going to study in the Netherlands is decreasing again. 166 student loan holders will leave next Saturday under the supervision of the Curaçao Student Finance Foundation, SSC. Last year there were 181. In 2020, 204 students flew to the Netherlands with SSC.
The majority of the 161 students go on to a higher professional education program, 126 in total. Fourteen students are following a course at MBO level and 26 students are going to university. The cities of The Hague, Rotterdam and Amsterdam are the most popular.
There are two KLM flights on Saturday that will take the students with them. The first flight is at 2:25 PM, the second at 6:15 PM. Sixteen students are going earlier this week.
At Schiphol, the students are received by their mentor, who already know the students virtually. There are also students from SSC who started last year and voluntarily lend a hand with reception and guidance.
The students then go by bus to the relevant city. SSC has arranged a room for all students who have requested this.
