WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday a man was sentenced by a judge to a fine of 1400 guilders. He was arrested on June 15 while driving drunk.
According to the police report, he had red eyes when the police stopped him, and he smelled strongly of alcohol. The man, who also had to do a breathalyzer test, admitted to the police that he had drunk too much beer.
The man did not show up at trial yesterday. The Public Prosecution asked for a fine of 1400 guilders and the judge took over that sentence. If he does not pay the fine, the man must go to prison for 28 days.
