WILLEMSTAD - A woman who cares for 150 stray dogs every day was fined by the judge yesterday. She has to pay 2500 guilders and has been given a probation period of two years for illegally occupying a site on Playa Canoa.
The woman has been trying to legally take ownership of the property since 1994. Without result. The judge and the public prosecutor showed understanding for the woman's situation. She does a good job taking in the stray dogs.
Yet she is no longer allowed to care for the animals there. The illegal appropriation of land is punishable by law.
