WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao fire brigade looks back on the turn of the year with satisfaction. No disturbances were detected at the fireworks sale.
The number of fireworks victims who had to go to hospital for treatment is much lower than usual. It was only two this time. And the number of fires on December 31 and January 1 was only 20 percent of the usual number of reports on those days. The fire brigade announced this today after an evaluation.
The cause of the relatively quiet turn of the year is the curfew, according to the Fire Department. It was also revealed that the two fireworks victims did not suffer serious injuries.
