WILLEMSTAD - Eight undocumented migrants awaiting their deportation from foreigners' barracks set the barracks on fire on Tuesday. The fire took place in block 1, where the undocumented migrants are staying pending the completion of the new reception center.
The eight men had set a mattress on fire, the material damage was considerable, according to employees. The security service extinguished the fire and moved the undocumented migrants to another location.
The foreigners' barracks at the prison Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Kòrsou were definitively closed at the beginning of this week. The prison received a lot of international criticism for the way the undocumented migrants are treated.
