Fire rescue equipment stolen again

Local | By Correspondent March 28, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - For the second time in a short time, unknown persons stole rescue equipment from the fire brigade. This time they took the hydraulic rescue tools from the Rio Canario fire station. This is reported by the police.

The theft was discovered Sunday morning. Previously, thieves took the life-saving hydraulic tools from the Barber barracks. The tools are used, among other things, to relieve trapped traffic victims.

The police are asking the community for help. Persons who have information about the theft can report this via the anonymous numbers 917 or 108.

In addition, a warning is sent out to business owners. The rescue tools are often used to commit large robberies at companies. The perpetrators open iron gates with the tool and can crack safes effortlessly. This has happened at the Baoase Luxury Resort, for example.
