WILLEMSTAD - Firefighting teams from Curaçao, Bonaire, Saba, and St. Eustatius will compete this Saturday in the Firefighter Challenge 2025 at Hato International Airport.

The event will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Capital Ç, located at the airport. Admission is free, and guided parking will be available for all visitors.

Island Teams Go Head-to-Head

Teams from Hato Airport Fire Brigade, Brandweer Korsou, and Refineria Isla will face off against fire departments from Bonaire, Saba, and St. Eustatius. Participants will test their strength, teamwork, and endurance through a series of high-intensity challenges designed to simulate real firefighting situations.

Family-Friendly Activities

The event is open to the public and offers activities for the whole family. Visitors can explore real fire trucks from Hato Airport, Brandweer Curaçao, and Refineria Isla. Children will be able to climb aboard the vehicles and take photos behind the wheel.

Additional attractions include a photo booth, information booths on fire prevention, a bouncy castle, and face painting for children.

Recruiting New Firefighters

Hato Airport is also using the event as a recruitment opportunity. Those interested in a firefighting career can apply on-site and speak directly with active firefighters about the profession and training process.

The Firefighter Challenge 2025 promises an exciting mix of competition, community engagement, and career inspiration, celebrating the courage and dedication of firefighters across the Dutch Caribbean.
