First Aqualectra smart meters in use now

WILLEMSTAD - The first so-called smart meters from the utility company Aqualectra were put into use this morning in the Zapateer district. Minister of Economic Development (MEO) Ruisandro Cijntje was present together with board members Darrick Jonis and Neysa Esenia at the presentation of the new water and electricity meters.

With the new network, the consumer can better manage the consumption of water and electricity, the meters are digital and easier to read. In addition, the new meters will ensure less leakage.

The intention is that after the Zapateer and Abrahamsz districts, all other addresses on the island will also be equipped with the smart meters. Aqualectra will announce through advertisements in the newspaper in which districts the meters will be replaced.

 

It is expected that the installation of the smart meters on the entire island will take three years.
