First court case after lockdown

Local | By Correspondent May 12, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday the first case was brought to the Court after the introduction of Corona measures where the parties were physically present. Suspect Juwenny Wijngaarden entered the courtroom with a face mask.

He had to answer for the smuggling of 22 kilos of cocaine to the Netherlands. They were hidden in a freezer sent by a cargo company.

The Public Prosecution demanded 4 years, of which one was conditional. The judge set a new date because he found the police investigation sloppy. June 6 is the new date.
