First endoscopy nurses in Curaçao complete specialization

Local | By Correspondent July 5, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Seven nurses from the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) recently completed the endoscopy specialization. The specialization was provided by the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC).

They are the very first endoscopy nurses in Curaçao. An endoscopy is used as a diagnostic examination. An endoscope is an instrument with which the visual examination is performed. It consists of a long thin tube with a light on the end and a small camera. Nurses assist and guide with the examinations and treatments.

In addition to the seven, more healthcare students received their diplomas on Monday. Four students obtained their Helping Care certificate. Thirteen passed the Nursing IG training and eight passed for a doctor's assistant. 21 students received their diploma for completing the Nursing course. The presentation was organized by the Instituto pa Formashon den Enfermeria (IFE).

The endoscopy nurses were the first group to follow the specialization through the LUMC. The collaboration between the two hospitals will be continued in the coming years.
