WILLEMSTAD - The Elementary Military Training (EMV) started this week at Naval Barracks Suffisant. This year, for the first time, a woman started the training.
It is the first year that women can register for training with the Curaçao Militia (CURMIL). The entry requirements make no difference in gender. Just like the men, the female candidates who are selected after the recruitment procedure are later given a position as Caribbean military personnel with the CURMIL.
The candidates are currently in the first phase of the training. The first part consists of two weeks in the tent camp, where the future soldiers carry out work under primitive conditions.
