WILLEMSTAD - The Johannes Bosco Foundation has pledged a donation of 100,000 guilders to the Food Bank Curaçao. That is double the amount that the Food Bank received from the foundation last year.
The Johannes Bosco Foundation has been active in Curaçao for almost 75 years and finances projects in the field of youth work and elderly care, among other things. According to the foundation, the Food Bank is "an ally in the fight against poverty in Curaçao, a problem that is bigger than many people think and that comes to light more in times of crisis".
David Serphos, interim director of the foundation: “We want to be where underprivileged parts of our population are helped with good projects and initiatives. We feel a moral obligation, especially in the field of youth. We want to help do everything we can to ensure that children from less fortunate families have the same opportunities as other children. Poverty and inequality must be higher on the social agenda. We will do our best for that.”
The token check was recently gratefully received by Sheryl Losiabaar, president of the Food Bank.
