Former minister withdraws appeal

Local | By Correspondent June 28, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé has no faith in the justice system. She, therefore, withdrew her appeal against her conviction. The former education minister in the Rhuggenaath cabinet has little faith in a fair trial.

Last year she was convicted of violating the screening law. During her term as a minister, Alcalá-Wallé was still registered as director and chairman of the board in the registry of the Chamber of Commerce. According to the screening law, this is not allowed. Alcalá-Wallé believes that the Public Prosecution Service uses double standards. Several ministers were registered with the Chamber of Commerce at the time, but she is the only one who has been convicted for this.
