WILLEMSTAD - The previous owner of Veeris Resort evaded tax for approximately 3.3 million guilders (2 million dollars). That is what the court writes in its verdict.

The Chinese-born convict has been found guilty of improper administration, filing incorrect tax returns and money laundering, according to the court. The man has to go to jail for 15 months and pay a fine of half a million guilders. Incidentally, it is the first time that anyone in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom has been convicted of tax fraud alone.
