Former Prime Minister could be released tomorrow

WILLEMSTAD - Former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte is said to be released tomorrow. Without ankle bracelet, because he has served two-thirds of his sentence and can go home as usual.

When dealing with the request to be released even earlier, the Public Prosecution had stated the date of Saturday 28 November.

But according to a source close to the case, prisoners are not released on weekends and the former prime minister will be released tomorrow.

He was sentenced to three years in 2018 for official corruption and money laundering.
