THE HAGUE - Forum for Democracy questions the fact that healthcare personnel have traveled from the Netherlands to Curaçao to help the island as the hospital threatens to collapse under the influx of corona patients. Dutch Member of Parliament Pepijn van Houwelingen has asked Undersecretary Paul Blokhuis of Public Health for clarification via written questions.
Van Houwelingen points out that there is also a shortage of healthcare personnel in the Netherlands and that healthcare may be overburdened. He wants to know where the care workers come from and why they are not deployed in the Netherlands.
In recent weeks, about 90 doctors, nurses and support staff who have volunteered have traveled to Curaçao.
