WILLEMSTAD - The Promo and Docomomo foundations indicated that they are ready to go to court to expropriate the Cinelandia building.
The old and dilapidated open-air theater in Punda has to be demolished by the government. Owner Fernando Da Costa-Gomez has never done anything to preserve the 1941 Art Deco building, he says due to all the lawsuits.
The business owner says he will rebuild the facade in such a way that no one will see the difference. The foundations want the government to designate an organization that will carry out the restoration.
