WILLEMSTAD – The price of Gasoline and diesel will fall below two guilders in the new year. Minister Cijntje of Economic Affairs reports this on his Facebook page. Gasoline will be 1.98 guilders, diesel will drop to 1.79 guilders.
Normally, fuel prices are reported by regulator BT&P, but apparently, the minister wants to tell the good news himself. This also creates confusion.
Cijntje writes that the prices will be adjusted on Sunday 1 January. But new fuel prices always go into effect on the first Tuesday of the month and very exceptionally on the last Tuesday of the month.
So Tuesday 3 January, or possibly on Tuesday 27 December. BT&P normally uses Tuesday 3 January in its system.
At the moment, the gasoline rate at the gas station is just over 2.35 guilders, while 2.22 guilders must be paid for diesel. Drivers will soon save 37 cents per liter of gasoline and even 43 cents per liter of diesel.
