WILLEMSTAD - The price for a liter of gasoline will decrease by three cents starting on Tuesday. A liter of gasoline currently costs 2.50 guilders, but on Tuesday, it will be a little over 2.48 guilders. This information comes from the Bureau of Telecommunications and Post.
Although the purchase price of gasoline has increased, the price is slightly decreasing due to a correction in the pricing. Every month, calculations are made to determine how much extra the gas station owners need to pay or will receive because of the value of their stock during a price change. This is referred to as the corrective factor, and it partly determines the price.
Diesel
On the other hand, the price for diesel will rise at the pump. And significantly so, by thirteen cents. A liter currently costs almost 1.92 guilders, but starting Tuesday, it will be around 2.04 guilders per liter.
The end-user rate for diesel has mainly increased due to the inclusion of half of the price increase from the previous month and also due to the rise in the purchase price.
To prevent a large fluctuation in the end-user rate of diesel all at once, the price increase will be accounted for as a negative correction component. This measure will be adjusted in the coming months.
