WILLEMSTAD - Gerrit Schotte is not allowed to go home with an ankle bracelet right now. The council chamber decided that yesterday.
But Gerrit Schotte does not have to wait really long for his release either. He will be released on November 27, two years after his final conviction and sentencing by the Supreme Court.
Schotte was sentenced to three years in prison for official corruption and money laundering and is not allowed to hold political office for five years.
In accordance with custom, a convicted prisoner can be released under electronic surveillance after two-thirds of his sentence if he is well behaved.
