GGz well assessed after quality audit

Local | By Correspondence November 20, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The Mental Health Care Curaçao (GGz) received a visit from the Dutch Psychiatric Association (NVvP) last week for a quality audit. This was announced by the GGz. This showed that the treatments and the files are professional and meet the quality requirements.

The aim of the audit is to increase the quality of care. The auditors have therefore indicated a number of points for improvement.

According to the NVvP, the shortage of psychiatrists on the islands, 5 psychiatrists instead of 20 psychiatrists per 100,000 inhabitants compared to the Netherlands, is worrying. The shortage is even greater in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Currently, there is only 1 child and adolescent psychiatrist working in Curaçao.
