WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament Quincy Girigorie has filed a complaint with the National Criminal Investigation Department against his colleague Eduard Braam of the MFK party. Braam accused Girigorie of indecent behavior.
Braam stated during an interview last night that he had heard from Girigorie’s bodyguards that he would have picked up and touched children during his period as Minister of Justice. He would have committed lewd acts and the security guards would be aware of this.
Girigorie is furious and calls Braam's statements pure nonsense. “This is really too crazy for words, I don't even know how to react to this. I was called by one of the bodyguards, he was very angry about the statements. They know who I am, they know my character and they know I've never done or could do anything like this in my life. It is clear that Mr Braam's moral compass has been completely broken, he is trying to justify something he has done," Girigorie stated.
Earlier this week it became clear that Braam cannot become Minister of Justice because of a sex offense in 2002. Girigorie has clearly spoken out in the media about this situation. "I have clearly expressed my opinion that I find it ridiculous that someone with a criminal record for sexually assaulting minors can be nominated as a minister." According to Girigorie, Braam is exasperated by his statements and that is why he brings these stories out into the world. “I get that he's annoyed, but I don't like him spreading lies about me. I have therefore filed a complaint and have an appointment with my lawyer today for the rectification procedure against Mr. Braam.”
Girigorie demands that Braam's statements be rectified. “It's just going too far in this country for people who walk around with a dirty conscience trying to kill someone else's character. I don't know how anyone can fall so low and start spreading lies about people like this."
