WILLEMSTAD - Internet banking at the Giro Bank is no longer possible from today. This heralds the end of the bank's activities. The Girobank experienced major solvency problems in 2012, which meant that an emergency arrangement had to be made with the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS).
The Central Bank then became a supervisor. In 2019, a run suddenly arose at the Giro Bank, which caused all banking activities to be frozen. The solvency problems turned out to be so great that a controlled run-down was made.
